Capital One Platinum

With the many credit cards available online it is hard to know which card is best for you.  There are many things that you should know about credits, but in this article we are going to take a look at the Capital One Platinum only.  We will review the card’s deals to see if it is a worthy card to have.

  • Balance Transfers:  This card does allow balance transfers.  In fact is has an introductory balance transfer rate of zero percent interest.  This zero percent interest will last until May 1st 2009.  Technically that means the deal is available and will be good for a year.  Along with this balance transfer option is the 3 percent handling fee.  This option is available with other credit cards.
  • Purchases:  Capital One Platinum offers zero percent interest on purchases until May 1st 2009.  This is again a twelve month period.  Unlike other cards capital one has one of the longest introductory periods for purchases.  Most of the other cards on the market offer a zero percent interest rate for three months.  The period of 12 month zero interest for both purchases and balance transfers starts when the account is first opened.  It doesn’t start on the day that you get the card in the mail.
  • The Capital One Platinum also offers a great interest rate.  There are a few catches to getting the 12.9 percent variable rate however.  It is the typical or standard rate.  This doesn’t mean that everyone will be approved for the rate. Capital One reserves the right to choose what interest rate they offer and what card.  If you don’t qualify for this particular card they may offer something else.  This interest rate is the lowest on the market that we have seen yet.
  • The only reward for having the card is going to be the free identity theft service that they offer.  They don’t have flight miles or other rewards points for purchases.

As credit cards go the Capital One Platinum usually has an annual fee in order to get the lower interest rate.  They do offer you a longer introductory period though.  If you are looking for a straightforward card in which you are able to make purchases and transfer a balance, this is the card to get.  By having a lower interest rate you can save on further purchases after the initial year is over.  The card deal is only offered to new consumers though.  If you are already a Capital One member you may not be able to take advantage of the credit card annual percentage rate or the introductory deal.  Capital One does have customer service 24 hours a day.  They also have online account management, and the fraud protect services we spoke about above.  These services do not differ from other credit cards on the market.  In fact they are becoming quite common.  Capital One Platinum can only be awarded to those with a good credit history and the income to debt ratio to support it.
