Charity Credit Cards

Charity Credit Cards have made an appearance in the market with stunning success.  In this section we will introduce the charity credit cards as well as what you can expect to find in this section.  There are numerous credit cards on the market, all with different aims towards the consumer.  The charity credit card option is one of the best.

The charity credit card will offer a percentage of funds to the charity that the credit card supports.  The donation is made by the credit card company and based on your purchases.  For example, if you spend 100 pounds as your first purchase the charity card will donate 25 pounds to that specific charity.  They will then continue to donate a certain percentage during the rest of the accounts life, as long as you continue to make purchases.  So you can make a donation at no cost to you.

Here is how you would want this card to work.  You would want to make a purchase that you can afford to pay off before the statement due date.  When you carry a balance from month to month you are charged interest; however when the card has no balance there is no interest to charge you.  So, you can make a donation at no cost to you as long as you are not charged interest.  When you use the card for purchases you should use it for purchases that you need to make.  In other words, buying groceries and then paying the balance off is a great way to use the card and make that donation.

Within the charity card world you don’t have competition, but to entice you into using the card the typical APR is lower than most cards on the market at 12.9 percent.  You also have balance transfer and purchase rate deals.  The reason there is no competition in the charity cards is that MBNA is the company offering the cards and they only have one card per charity.  So you have the WWF, Breast Cancer, Aids, Eye Care, Medical Research and other charities, but no two cards that are the same.

As of yet no other credit card company on the market is offering charity cards.  This means you are not really comparing the cards for what they offer you.  In the list on this page you can see what the cards offer at a quick glance.  Most of the cards have the exact same options.  The difference will be in what charity you want to support and then applying for that card.

You will want to compare how they make the donation.  The donations are not all made in the same percentage, which could make the choice for you.  Otherwise the card is more about supporting what you believe in.

Please review the list for your options, and read the reviews and news.  You will also want to read more on how the cards can work for you and making donations so that you can be effective.
