When you are looking for a credit card, don’t just go for the first one you come across. Shop around. It’s simple but often overlooked by many. This laziness could cost you a small fortune. More often than not there is always a better deal you can pick up on if you just look around at all there is to offer.

The best way to find what you want is to search on Google or another search engine for exactly what you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for a card with 18 months 0% on purchases then put in a search. Just by looking on a site like this does not mean you will always find exactly what you are looking for. By all means look on comparison sites such as this one, but also do a search on Google.

Comparison websites do not list all credit cards. More often than not they only list ones they get paid commissions on. But if there is a card that has what you are looking for then there will more than likely be a webpage on it and if you do a search then it with any luck it will appear in the search engine results. Also look around the high street banks to see what they are offering.

Some people will argue that all credit cards have very similar deals and while many do there are usually some bargains to be had for those that search. At the time of writing this article many cards are offering 15.9% apr to 16.9% apr. If I do a search on Google for 12.9% apr credit card, it brings up quite a few pages offering cards with this percentage apr. Most comparison sites will not display these cards.

So shop around and save yourself a small fortune over a period of years and you could pay off your card much quicker.
