MBNA Rewards Amex
The MBNA rewards American Express card is just one of the products available through MBNA bank. They have several benefits and options that should be examined to determine if this is the right card for you. In this article we will review the options this card offers to help you make your choice.
First there are several cards on the market still offering their introductory rates. Each card will have a variation that sets it apart from the other cards, which is what should make your choice for you. The MBNA Rewards American Express credit card offers a zero percent interest rate for 12 months on balance transfers. This is the typical length of time for a balance transfer offer if the card has it. In other words this is not what sets the MBNA Amex apart. To take advantage of this offer you do have to transfer a balance in the first two months or earlier from the date of the account being opened. After this offer is over you will be charged 15.9 percent on any balance transfer including what you haven’t paid off in twelve months. The balance transfer does cost 3 percent in a handling fee even during the introductory rate.
The next offer on this card is the purchase introductory rate. You have zero percent interest for three months. This period also starts from the date the account is open. You should also note that the balance transfer will be paid off before the purchases when you make payments. After the introductory period is over you will be charged 15.9 percent interest. This interest rate on the balance transfers and purchases is about average when compared to other cards. Many of the cards are offering the same competitive rate to try to obtain your business. This rate is variable and subject to change according to the terms and conditions. They do have the universal default option with this card.
The option that sets this card apart from the other cards is the rewards. You will earn points towards shopping vouchers, flights, and cash. Depending on the amount of rewards points you earn it may take a little longer to get the flights over the shopping vouchers. Typically you earn one point per pound when you make a purchase. The rewards are not awarded for balance transfers.
This offer is the same as the MBNA Rewards Visa card, with one difference. The visa card offers 13 months on the balance transfer. American Express is becoming accepted in more retailer locations; however visa is still the most accepted card around the world. If you are looking for a versatile card the visa card would be better. This MBNA Rewards Amex card does have wonderful benefits compared to other cards and if you prefer American Express to Visa than this would be the card for you. The only difference is gaining an extra month with the visa card on balance transfers, which may not be important to you.
