Natwest Credit Card

Natwest credit card offers will vary in range of benefits to the age you must be in order to apply.  Their basic card asks that you are at least 18 years of age, but the business card will require an age of at least 21.  They also have different options regarding the introductory deals. For our purposes we will look at the basic Natwest MasterCard.

  • Balance Transfers:  With balance transfers you have an intro deal of zero percent interest for 13 months.  Many credit cards have an introductory deal, but they are usually going to be a maximum of twelve months on average.  Having that extra month on this card could be important to you and help you make a decision.  For our purposes the only reason to go for the extra month is if the card is for a balance transfer and no other reason.  Also if the balance can be paid off in that amount of time it makes a great card.  The handling fee for balance transfers is 2.9 percent, which is .1 percent lower than the average rate and the cap.
  • Purchases:  on purchases you have a zero percent interest rate for six months.  The sixth month period is one of the longest purchase rate periods you will find.  Most cards offer half of that amount.  There are a few that offer 5 months or a year.  Again this is only important if the card is going to be strictly for purchases.  The balance transfer amount will be paid off before any other amount, which means you could be paying interest on purchases from the first six months without realizing it.  It is of course one of the longest terms and therefore worthy of value.
  • After the introductory periods are over with the NatWest card you have the interest rate option of 13.9 percent.  To be awarded this interest rate you do need to have good standing with your credit.  They will offer the intro deals with a higher interest if you don’t fit the qualifications for this standard rate of 13.9 percent.  13.9 percent is not the lowest interest rate being offered, however it is the fourth card to offer such a lower rate.  The current standard is about 15.9 percent with other cards and introductory deals.
  • This card doesn’t have an annual fee associated with it.
  • You also can earn a 56 day free interest period when you pay the balance off in full every month and on time for at least six months.

The NatWest card is not typical of the other offers.  Other offers have a short intro period with a higher interest rate.  These other cards also offer rewards.  NatWest doesn’t have a rewards programme with their basic card. This means you don’t earn vouchers, money back or flights.  If balance transfers and a good interest rate are something that is important than this card is going to be right for you.  For the type of card it is the NatWest card is one of the best.
